As many as 41177 positions at Public sector banks are vacant as per the recent statement by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. There are more than 805986 sanctioned positions at Public Sector Banks. SBI has the maximum number of vacant posts of 8544, according to official data. The number for Punjab National Bank is 6743. The Central Bank of India has 6295 vacant positions, followed by Indian Overseas Bank at 5112 and Bank of India at 4848. The posts are spread across three categories: officer, clerk, and sub-staff.
